who we are
Jain Sahitya Academy Trust
The knowledge of Jain culture and its traditions is scattered around the globe and no one has consolidated this information and tried to introduce it as a subject. Hence, almost no one has the complete knowledge about Jain culture. Therefore, people either have partial knowledge about Jainism or are completely unknown to the culture.
To tackle this problem, this course aims to consolidate all the scattered information and teach it to potential students. This will help them have a better understanding of Jainism rather than knowing about it in bits and pieces.

Jainism is an ascetic religion that teaches the immortality and pilgrimage of the soul, denies the existence of a supreme being as creator and emphasizes the art of non-violence in depth acceptance of multiplicity of views in multicultural and multi religious society. The teachings and preaching’s of Mahavir are nothing but the basic concept of humanism. Society has to understand it, apply it and inculcate these moral values which will result into a calm, peaceful and loving society.
The distinguishing features of Jain philosophy are its belief in the independent existence of soul and matter; the denial of a creative and omnipotent God, combined with a belief in an eternal universe; and a strong emphasis on non-violence, morality and ethics.
This will be an online course on Jain traditions which will include brief introduction of history, philosophy, literature, Jain Art & architecture, Mythology, Sociology and its relevance in present day life style
It will give the impetus to future Jain Scholars and researchers who would excel in knowledge and application of Jainism’s principles of peace and non-violence, to further study Jain traditions and teach the common public about it
This course will rekindle and give rebirth to the principles of humanity, non-violence and good civic sense among all human beings regardless of their gender, race, caste etc.
